PhD in Telematics and Information Technology, with a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

He is currently a Research Professor at the Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences and Associate Vice President for Augmented Technological Research in the Division of Information Technology at Florida International University (FIU).

Dr. Ibarra is responsible for advancing the mission of the Center for Internet Augmented Research and Assessment (CIARA) and serves as Principal Investigator for multiple National Science Foundation (NSF) awards in the field of international research networking, among other institutions.

His areas of specialization include software-defined networking, autonomous network architectures, network automation, and network control and management.
