Doctor (Ph.D.) from Purdue University, USA, Civil Metallurgical Engineer, with a Diploma in Extractive Metallurgy. He is currently a member of the Strategic Scientific Committee of the National Laboratory for High-Performance Computing (NLHPC) in Chile, a member of the Board of Directors of RedCLARA, a board member of the Universidad de las Américas (UDLA), and President of the Board of REUNA.

He has over 40 years of experience in Chilean and international universities. He has served as Rector of the Universidad de Atacama, Vice-Rector of Operations and Quality Assurance at the Universidad Viña del Mar, and Vice-Rector of Research, Graduate Studies, and Innovation at the Universidad de Playa Ancha.

He has participated in commissions and councils of the Chilean higher education system and, internationally, has worked as a consultant and evaluator for projects funded by the European Union, the Government of Canada, and Japanese organizations.
