Albert Astudillo

He is currently the Technology Manager at REUNA, where he leads the development and implementation of advanced digital infrastructures for Chile’s academic and scientific ecosystem. His work focuses on enhancing national and international collaboration through high-performance networks, next-generation connectivity, and research-oriented digital services.

He has driven strategic, large-scale projects, including connectivity initiatives for world-class astronomical observatories such as ALMA, ESO, AURA/NOIRLab, and Vera Rubin, the strengthening of the Patagonia network for research in extreme environments, and connectivity proposals to Antarctica. Additionally, he coordinates technical efforts with public institutions, universities, and international organizations, including RedCLARA, AmLight, and global science and data consortia.

In line with the objectives of the EU-LAC Digital Alliance and the the BELLA II project led by RedCLARA, TICAL provides a forum for strategic dialogue and exchange of experiences among the NRENs members of RedCLARA on strengthening regional science, technology, and innovation; promotes the identification of common challenges and opportunities of digital transformation for the economic and social development of Latin America and the Caribbean, and seeks to identify the cornerstones for building a common development agenda based on digital.
